Well, here I am in the vast world of writing on a public platform. Gone are the days of my handwritten journal entries and my Instagram story rants (no, not really, I just enjoy a dramatic flair).
People often wonder and ask, why start a blog, what is there to gain?
Is it about the attention, the money, venting out your frustrations, or finding kindred spirits? Perhaps all of the above, perhaps none.
Personally I see it as my little project, something I’ve been thinking about for years and an idea I’ve been seriously mulling over since I started college.
All who know me are aware of my love for social media platforms, how active I am on them, how much I like stay updated with “current events”, and more often than not annoy people with way too many photos, gushing frustrations, and similar quality content.
That is exactly why the idea of a personalized online platform always appealed to me. A corner all of your own, in this endless internet melting pot…your aesthetic and decor, your musings, your photographs. A small, carefully curated piece of oneself shared with the world…and maybe, just maybe you get to create something cool (yes, I’m aware it isn’t cool to say cool anymore), find people with whom you click, and tell your story and your truth.
I know it’s pretty cliche that a pregnant woman and future momma is starting a blog, and I’ve even recently read a comment on how there are so many moms and mom bloggers, we’re like cockroaches (paints a pretty picture I know), but here we are…if not now, when? If not me, then who? (well anyone else really but I enjoy giving myself pep talks from time to time).
When it comes to the name of the blog….Unabridged came as a bit of wordplay for 2 reasons; 1. I love puns 2. My name is perfect for them. Other than the apparent first three letter (Una) being my name, unabridged means unshortened, uncensored, complete….precisely because I have no limits, I talk too much (write as well), and I don’t want any censorship in terms of the topics I will be writing about.
So, in a nutshell: My name is Una, I’m a young pregnant lady, business chick, International Business graduate, wife to an incredibly handsome man, and from now on, a blogger. You can read more about me here (About me), and we’ll be hanging out in posts about my thoughts, opinions, irritating injustices, lovely moments, recipes, DIY tutorials and everything else in between.
